My friend Josh McLeod is the one-man show behind VESPER magazine. We used my workshop space, brought in a 300-lb block of ice and two models to do a shoot for the mag. Here are some previews! Thanks to art director Cara Henis and the lovely Erin and Vera - models brave enough to cuddle even the largest chunks of ice.
(these photos are from a July 4th trip to a friend's ranch. Texas is full of astonishing beauty, and my heart falls in love with this state over and over. So lucky to live here.)
I gave Serena a lift from Austin to Detroit. Lift is perhaps the wrong word. Adventuring's a better fit. Anyway, after Nashville hijinx, 3am grits stops and highway sing-alongs, we made it to Serena's hometown. On the drive up, she'd been telling me about the empty miles of abandoned buildings, and took me to see some of them. Although, these former family homes were hardly abandoned: grafitti artists, squatters, those in need of shelter: signs of life sprung up everywhere. Props to Serena for being such a natural model, and for basically getting naked in freezing temps while trespassing in Detroit! What a spin. Here are some snaps from this little impromtu shoot.
