An appropriately-titled post, I must say; I've discovered that my rental car's XM radio includes a Willie Nelson station. I've been listening to that, the 80s station and.. um, Broadway hits. There's nothing like singing along to Macavity the Mystery Cat while cruising up HWY 1, noshing on chillied mangos and lattes, blinking in wonder at the epic and luscious landscape that pushes up from the central coast of California. My good friend Emily McLeod, who I know from university days, does doctoral research in Carmel. These were taken from the side of the highway on the way to a delightful Thai dinner with her. I usually leave the landscape stuff to other photogs, but I loved the way the sunlight was gently pressing on the backs of these sad and stately trees. And these succulent rubbery flower-plants were like nothing I'd seen before. More California photo-taking tomorrow. May include spiders... if I'm lucky.
