(p) Big Elvis finds love

An MGM concierge told me the story of Big Elvis: At 960 pounds, barely able to stand up, he was still one of America's top 10 best Elvis impersonators. With doctors telling him flat out that he'd die, he found the sheer determination to shed over half his weight. Without surgery, medication, or anything other than a blazing resolve to live, perform, and be there for his kids, Pete Vallee not only became half the man he used to be, but found his other half in an ardent Hawaiian Elvis fan who fell head over heels for him: Amanda. They let me backstage to tell their story. (That is Febreeze that he's spraying the jumpsuit with. Standard for the Elvis Impersonator tool-kit!)
